The Sarasota chapter of the Commanderie de Bordeaux was organized in 2004 by a group of local Bordeaux wine lovers. Godofredo Herzog and Herb Roffman invited others to join in forming the chapter and connoisseurs celebrating the grand traditions of these fine clarets.
Today the chapter has more than thirty members who share a passion for Bordeaux and a commitment to enjoying it in good company. We host parlements at outstanding local restaurants and country clubs whose executive chefs design and pair multiple courses to complement Bordeaux wines provided from the chapter's cellar. Dinners usually have a core theme — a vertical of a single label, a selection from one appellation such as Margaux or Saint-Émilion, or a side-by-side comparison of Right and Left Bank wines..
The Sarasota chapter operates under the auspices of the Commanderie de Bordeaux aux États-Unis d'Amérique, an official chapter of the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux. We have many across the country and around the world. Together we share a single mission: to deepen the appreciation of the wines of Bordeaux and to honor the vignerons who craft them.
